NURS 684 Discussion 3 Thread 3
Ethical Situation 2
You, as the principle investigator, are studying young teenagers, 10 to 14 years-old who are under aggressive treatment for life-threatening cancers. One acutely ill 11-year-old boy has had many treatments with chemotherapy is asked to participate. His parents would like him to participate in the study but he refuses. His contribution to the research data could be beneficial in the treatment of other teenage patient. Discuss the issues of consent. Propose a response to this little boy and his parents and be prepared to support your advice with evidence, governmental or organizational guidance or reference information.
